Beginners Mindfulness Meditation Course

Learn the foundations of Mindfulness and Meditation in this Beginners course with Marnie Yoga to help you start your own home practice.

The next course starts in early 2024 at The Acklam Green Centre.


Who is this course for?

  • Complete beginners to Mindfulness and Meditation
  • People who may have practiced some Mindfulness and Meditation at home via the internet or an app or who are returning to meditation after a break
  • All genders and anyone above the age of 16 years
  • People who have a reasonable level of bodily movement and who are not recovering from recent injuries, operations and/or chronic illnesses which may cause them pain whilst sitting in meditation
  • People who can commit to the full 4 week course as this is a progressive styled course which will help to develop a regular practice
  • *This course will not be suitable for people who have been diagnosed by a doctor as suffering from psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia
Week 1 You’ll be introduced to the course and your fellow meditators. We’ll explore what Mindfulness and Meditation is and isn’t about, learn about the benefits of Mindfulness and Meditation for our health and wellbeing, explore how to sit comfortably and practice mindful breathing and mantra Meditation.
Week 2We’ll recap from week 1 and then investigate the body and mind’s resistance to Mindfulness and Meditation. We’ll also explore where our thoughts come from and how to settle them. You’ll also learn about the scientific evidence that supports the benefits of a daily mindful Meditation practice. We’ll practice visualisation mindful Meditation.
Week 3We’ll recap from week 2 and practice different types of Mindfulness and Meditation e.g. chanting, silence, walking, and Transcandental mediation.
Week 4We’ll recap from week 3 and practice Buddhist Meditations and Mindfulness, explore the concept of awareness, and final discussion of the course.
